30 Apr Start the Season in Style
It’s April on the Costa del Sol and venues, musicians, DJs and party goers are already starting to heat up for summer. It’s just around the corner. You can smell the scent in the air and hear the beat on the breeze. And, it’s officially re-opening season for some of the best beach clubs in the world including the one and only spectacular Ocean Club located in Puerto Banús.
The club’s official White & Silver opening party is taking place on Friday 26th April and headlining the event are two massive names in the world of commercial tunes: Wyclef Jean and Robin Shulz.
Wyclef Jean, best known for his work with hip hop group The Fugees, is a Haitian, multi-award winning rapper and musician. He immigrated to the USA with his family at the age of 9 and very soon after music became his way of life. In the early 80s, Jean and other musicians formed a band named the Tranzlator Crew. Following signing with Ruffhouse Records and Columbia Records in 1993, they changed the name to the Fugees – an abbreviation of “refugees” and also a reference to Haitian immigrants. The group’s second album “The Score” catapulted them to fame with hits such as “Fu-Gee-La”, “Killing Me Softly”, “Ready or Not” and “No Woman No Cry”.
In the late 90s, Jean went solo and released two hit albums featuring guest artists such as Lauren Hill and Mary J. Blige. But it has to be Jean’s performance alongside Shakira in the song “Hips Don’t Lie” – one of the highest selling singles in the 21st century – that puts him on the pedestal alongside rap’s all-time greats.
The story of DJ and producer Robin Schulz reads like one in a million. Just four years ago, Robin Schulz first topped the worldwide singles charts with his acclaimed remix of “Waves (feat. Mr. Probz)” and landed his breakthrough global uber-hit “Prayer in C (feat. Lilly Wood & The Prick)”; practically an eternity in the 30-year-old artist’s life! Building on his unique blend of house, electro and pop, the Osnabrück DJ and producer has established himself as Germany’s most successful music export of the past two decades in record-breaking time, while his sure-fire megahits have proven to work crowds into a frenzy time and time again. With countless #1s in over 20 countries, over 250 Gold and Platinum certifications as well as billions of streams and views to his name, the four-time German ECHO award-winner now bares it all on his third studio album “Uncovered”.
Adding sold-out tours throughout Europe, America, Asia and Australia to his résumé, Schulz has played the most renowned festivals around the globe from London’s iTunes to Miami’s Ultra Music as well as Tomorrowland in Belgium and Brasil, including sought-after residencies in Ibiza and Las Vegas.
The line-up for an opening party really couldn’t get any better than this and with a newly installed, top-of-the-range Martin Audio sound system, the music at Ocean Club has never sounded this good. So, grab your tickets fast, select that white and silver outfit (leaving any glitter, gems and your hen fancy dress at home) and start the season in style!
