Autumn Sounds

Autumn Sounds

The evenings are drawing in, the temperature is softening, the tourists are ebbing away and with them, the local music scene is losing momentum. No more summer super concerts, no more summer scintillate parties and no more world leading Djs performing in a club near you. It’s Autumn…… and it’s the season we love the most.

Despite losing the deep beats, crazy vibes and heat waves of the summer, in the Autumn, the music scene gains quality and much needed variety. In September, on the cusp of the new season, the Guaro Luna Mora festival is celebrated. This year it has featured none other than the famous flamenco-chill group Chambao.

October, along with multiple Halloween-themed parties, also offers an excellent alternative music festival called Monkey Week. Hosted in the stunning city of Seville, the festival provides a stage for independent, emerging bands, runs over 4 days and is extremely popular. Also gives you a great reason to discover Seville while enjoying hours of alternative music. A full pass costs €75 and gives you access to seeing over 100 performances.

November presents two key festivals for the Coast – the first is the International Jazz Festival in Málaga, and the second, rhythm and blues and rock ‘n’ roll festival, Blues at Moonlight held at hotel Sunset Beach Club in Benalmádena.

Now in its 19th edition, the Málaga International Jazz Festival will run from November 8th to the 13th in the beautiful Cervantes Theatre. Featured artists include Steve Coleman and Five Elements, Ron Carter ‘Golden Stryker’ Trio, Elian Elias, Medeski’s Mad Skillet, Dave Holland Trio and Fancinema Jazz. Ticket prices vary a lot depending on the performance and the seat location (from €15 to €70+ for one concert) and can be bought via Uniticket.

Hosted at Hotel Sunset Beach Club in Benalmádena, Blues at Moonlight is an awesome, 4-day rhythm and blues and rock ‘n’ roll festival charged with some of the most energetic and entertaining live music concerts you will experience and an electric atmosphere. Organized by Miguel Corchón, owner of Active Sound Productions, Blues at Moonlight is now in its 10th edition and is set-up to be a corker this year. Back by popular demand, the one and only Ray Collins Hot Club from Germany are key perfomers on the Saturday night of the festival that will also feature groups from across Europe including the likes of A.J. And the Rockin’ Trio, Crystal & Running Wild, Jack Rabbit Slim, Roy Dee & the Spitfires, Trouper’s Swing Band and many more.
